23rd October 2010
23rd October, Alessandria. First time in Italy, Willi Dorner combines his genial work and creativity with Ideas.
After New York, Istanbul, Berlin, Vienna, London and many other European and worldwide capitals, Bodies in urban spaces finally came to Italy.
Bodies in urban spaces is a moving trail, choreographed for a group of dancers.
The performers lead the audience through selected parts of public and semi-public spaces. A chain of physical interventions set up very quickly and only existing temporarily, allows the viewer to perceive the same space or place in a new and different way – on the run. The special quality of each place at various times of the day creates unique presentations.
By placing the bodies, artists coming from dance world but also free climbers and marcial arts, in selected spots the interventions provoke a thinking process and produce irritation. Passers by, residents and audience are motivated and prompted to reflect their urban surrounding and there own movement behaviour and habits.
«I want inhabitants to walk their own city again and to spend time and contemplate their own city again», Dorner says. «Usually when you live someplace you forget to look around at your surroundings and don’t care too much about it. With the dancers, we give people time to focus, to contemplate their own environment. I use the bodies to represent and to interpret the environment and its architecture».
A deep original work that communicate messages and values in a brand new way, this project created a strong link with Ideas brand which organized and sponsorized its venue.
